How do I use the Dematting Rake?Updated 18 days ago

The Dematting Rake is an optional attachment that can be purchased here for your furMe. This tool features 15 stainless steel curved spokes to break up mats and deshed your pet's thick coat. The underside of the spokes are a sharp blade to effortlessly remove tough mats, tangles, knots and loose hair without irritation or scratching. The rounded edges of the stainless steel teeth serve as a protective barrier for your pet's sensitive skin. It's the perfect solution for dogs and cats with thick fur or dense coats. This brush is suitable for medium-to-long haired pet breeds who are prone to tangles and knotty hair. This attachment features our signature hair-ejector lever to push the fur that collects in the comb into the hose of your furMe! No stopping to empty your brush, you just keep working!

Before you begin:

  • Caution: The underside of the spokes are sharp blades. Do not touch. Keep away from children.
  • Always work/comb in the direction of your pet's hair growth
  • Do not use excessive force - never pull on the mats
  • As with any furMe tool, use on dry fur only. If your pet has mats, its recommended to demat prior to bathing as the water may tighten mats.

To use:

  1. Attach the Dematting Rake to the end of your furMe hose
  2. Once you and your pet are ready to begin, turn your vacuum on the lowest setting (working your way up in suction power as needed according to your user manual).
  3. Carefully comb through your pet's fur in the direction of the hair grain. Do not use excessive force. Do not pull on mats. Start at the base of the knot/matt with very short strokes, to gently loosen hair clump. Strokes can lengthen as hair knots and clumps continue to loosen.
  4. If and when your tool fills with fur, use your thumbs to press the CLEAN lever on the back of your tool to push the hair into the furMe hose. For more information on this feature, click here
